Eddy’s Out West- Youth Homelessness Service

The Youth Homelessness Service assists young people up to the age of 25 in the Hawkesbury, Penrith and Blacktown LGA’s.  The Service has two components; case management and accommodation.

Early Intervention Case Management:  For young people at risk of becoming homeless. Post Crisis Case Management:  For young people who have experienced homelessness.

The Service has three accommodation options; Crisis Supported Accommodation (Bidwill Unit): The Bidwill Unit is a 24 hour supervised crisis accommodation service for young people aged 15-18 years.

 Transitional Accommodation (Blacktown Unit): The Blacktown Unit provides supported accommodation and focuses on providing young people with the living skills they need to move to independent living. 

 Supported Independent Accommodation: This service is for young people who require some case management assistance but are able to live independently.

The turning Point Youth Accommodation Service

Emergency accommodation. Medium/long term accommodation for homeless youth (15 - 18 years inclusive) Ring for location.

 Alcohol & Other Drugs

 Ted Noffs Foundation

The Ted Noffs Foundation Program provides individual counselling to young people between 12 and 25 years who have difficulties with their own or others alcohol or other drug (AOD) use and can provide some support for family and carers. Included is a Counsellor who covers the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury area and an Indigenous Counsellor for the Mt Druitt/Blacktown area who also provides brokerage (both areas age group is 14-18 years old).

Our Rhythm & Reform (music workshops) are for young people to engage through music to creatively express themselves through the art of music production, song writing and studio recording.  This includes song writing lessons; beat making workshops, recording studio sessions and the opportunity to create own CD – all free. These workshops have a living skills component to help young people overcome difficulties they are facing including substance use and other related issues.

McGraths Hill Youth Project.

 Youth drop-in service for 12-18 year olds. McGraths Hill Community Centre (Behind shops)

Hours: Tuesday and Thursday 3pm-6pm. Volunteers accepted. Disabled access.

Forgotten Valley Community & Youth Development Project

This service is available to the communities of Wisemans Ferry, Laughtendale, Lower Hawkesbury, Spencer, Gunderman, Lower, Central and Upper Macdonald, St. Albans, Webbs Creek, Leets Vale Lower Portland, Sackville, South Maroota, Maroota and Cattai. Programs are also offered to young people between the ages of 12 & 18 years. Funded by the Department of Community Services, these services are designed to strengthen the community and help people feel more connected and informed.
